Not only did he walk out, he lived right across town and never called to see how the family was doing. He never acknowledged his own flesh and blood. He even rode past the house and saw the child he conceived, and never stopped to say hi.

He has impregnated five women due to being unfaithful. Every woman was told the same thing, “I’m here for you always”

This is a fictional story, but it’s all too true for a lot of men and women.

I”m tired of hearing about the pain caused by lethal injection. Lethal injection is more humane than the electric chair to me.

Please explain to me why we need to make sure the prisoner who is about to die, is comfortable before he/she dies? If you really think about it, it makes no sense. They’re about to die! Just kill’m and get it over with. It costs taxpayers too much money to administer the lethal injection. We could save a lot of money if we just put a bullet to the back of the head. Two bullets if we’re not sure one will do.

The government is going about this all wrong. It makes no sense to me at all.

I don’t agree we should have a death penalty, but since we do, it needs to be handled differently.

My proposal is to put a bullet in the back of their heads. It doesn’t take long, and it doesn’t cost much.

There would be no spectators (the victim’s family/friends and media) as if it’s a party.

I say put the prisoner to sleep first, than shoot’m. It’s just that simple.

Speaking of lethal injection. There’s a case of a man who raped his eight yr old daughter. It’s said he will get the death penalty. Some argue that’s ‘unusual’ (as in cruel and unusual punishment) and he shouldn’t get the death penalty. (unusual punishment is against the constitution)

Do you think child rapists who didn’t kill their victims (only raped them) should get death penalty?

“Knowing your own truth” blogs are about just that, knowing YOUR own truth.”
Alot of us believe what we do without ‘question’ because it was taught to us. We have never examined the evidence or looked at what we believe from another perspective. To me, that’s dangerous and causes us to be ignorant. There are at least two sides to EVERY situation, belief, etc. I believe it’s important to “Know our own truths”
Our truths are not our own. It’s someone else’s perception of truth. If you have never looked at your beliefs from another perspective, than it’s not YOUR truth, but someone else’s.
The reason for this series is to introduce common beliefs and give you the other side and let YOU be the judge. The series is not to get you to change what you believe. It’s to introduce to you what you most likely never knew. Once you examine what I post, it’s up to you to decide what you want to believe. If your mind doesn’t change, so what! At least now you have examined the evidence and came up with the conclusin to believe or not believe based on what YOU know, Not what someone else knows. Does this make sense?

Anywho..I’ll be posting a variety of topics. Everything from religion to wearing bras. All I ask is that you take these blogs seriously. There is so much we’ll all learn from these series. I promise

Again, i’m not trying to sway anyone’s opinion, just introduce the other side.

Is Jesus a Carpenter?

Nowadays it is quite common to refer to Jesus as a carpenter from Galilee. You might even see people driving around with a bumper sticker that says, “My Boss Is a Jewish Carpenter,” by which they mean Jesus.

But is Jesus really a carpenter? Let’s examine the gospels and see.

They asked, “Is not this the carpenter?”

Right away we find that the words “Jesus” and “carpenter” occur together only once in the New Testament:

On the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astounded. They said, “Where did this man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What deeds of power are being done by his hands! Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary [Other ancient authorities read "son of the carpenter and of Mary"] and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.
—Mark 6:2-3 (NRSV)

There are some interesting aspects to this passage.

Depending on which ancient manuscript you read, the people are either asking if Jesus is a carpenter or if He is the son of a carpenter. Either way, they were asking because they were surprised to see someone whom they thought was a carpenter functioning as a rabbi. Jesus was teaching in the synagogue on the Sabbath; in other words, He was preaching the sermon. Since they thought He was a carpenter usurping the role of a rabbi, they understandably took offense. If He were a carpenter, as they wondered, His ability to preach would be quite amazing.

However, the only people who thought this situation was remarkable and offensive were the people who were mistaken. Obviously, the synagogue authorities had allowed Him to preach, which means they knew that He was not a carpenter.

The New Testament calls Jesus ‘rabbi’ about 13 times

Here are three examples.

Then Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
—Mark 9:5-6 (NRSV)

Nathanael asked him, “Where did you get to know me?” Jesus answered, “I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you.” Nathanael replied, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Jesus answered, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.”
—John 1:48-50 (NRSV)

Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, “Rabbi, eat something.” But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” So the disciples said to one another, “Surely no one has brought him something to eat?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to complete his work.”
—John 4:31-34 (NRSV)

When people called Jesus “rabbi,” He never corrected them. Unless He is being deceptive, this means He is a rabbi.

The New Testament calls Jesus ‘teacher’ about 47 times

You can look these up on your own; I will give you one example.

On the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Where do you want us to make the preparations for you to eat the Passover?” He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, ‘My time is near; I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.’”
—Matthew 26:17-19 (NRSV)

Notice that in this passage Jesus is referring to Himself as a teacher, which is really interesting because the same gospel discloses that it uses “teacher” to mean “rabbi.”

The New Testament uses ‘teacher’ to mean ‘rabbi’ pay close attention

When Jesus turned and saw them following, he said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which translated means Teacher), “where are you staying?” He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they remained with him that day.
—John 1:38-39 (NRSV) See also Matthew 23:8 and John 3:2

Matthew was writing in Greek, but ‘rabbi’ is an Aramaic or Hebrew word, so he explains to the reader what ‘rabbi’ means and that he uses it ‘teacher’ as a translation of the title ‘rabbi.’

So here is our evidence:

In the gospels, total strangers walk up to Jesus and ask Him cast out demons, heal the sick, settle disputes, and probate wills. Carpenters don’t have that job description, but rabbis do. This also means, incidentally, that Jesus had to have been dressed like a rabbi; otherwise, the people wouldn’t know to ask.

In the gospels, there is no incident where a Pharisee invites Jesus to fix a wobbly table, but He overhears the dinner conversation, interrupts with His observations, and amazes them with His wisdom. That’s what would happen if He were a carpenter. Instead, the Pharisees keep inviting Jesus to dinner to discuss His teachings. So obviously the Pharisees perceive Jesus as a rabbi, because carpenters do not have teachings, but rabbis do.

In the gospels, Jesus has disciples. Carpenters don’t have disciples, but rabbis do.

Matthew informs us in Matthew 23:8 that when he uses ‘teacher’ as a title, he is translating the word ‘rabbi.’ That means Jesus is calling Himself as a rabbi in Matthew 26:17-19. Nowhere does He call Himself a carpenter.

So it is very romantic to think of Jesus as a carpenter, but not very scriptural.

Jesus is a rabbi.

Last night I watched Medical Mysteries on 20/20. One of the medical mysteries was about children being born gay and how it might be possible to tell when they’re still in the womb.

There were two families they showed last night whose sons showed early signs of being gay. One woman showed home footage of her son and how flamboyant he was at such a young age. (six) I saw the video myself and could clearly see the femininity in him. (throwing his arms up like a girl, running and walking like a girl) He also wanted to play female roles with his mom. I know not every boy who shows feminine traits will be gay, but this is one of the signs.

Scientists as you know have not discovered this so called gay gene, but I’m confident that ’something’ will turn up. If not a gay gene, a full proof explanation as to why ’some’ people are gay (we know some choose the lifestyle)

Yeah, I know a lot of you religious folks are too ’boxed’ in to understand how someone could be born gay. You can’t wrap the concept around your brains because you have been taught for so long that homosexuality is wrong. I have news for you, a lot of what you’ve been taught is FALSE! (astrology, voodoo, Jesus, and the list goes on)

If you could step outside of that box for a moment and weigh all the facts, you can clearly see that something isn’t right. You will see that not EVERY person chooses to be gay. Why would a child at six want to dress up like a girl, play with dolls, wear dresses, etc??

You don’t want to believe. It goes against what you’ve been ’taught’ to believe. I understand all that. I used to be ’boxed’ in once too.

At one time I too believed that homosexuality was evil. It wasn’t until I saw a child grow up to be gay right before my eyes. I met this child at nine and saw signs of homosexuality in him (was too feminine , was afraid of getting hit with a ball for sports, didn’t take interest in girls) Well he’s now out of the closet and I’m sure he’s relieved.

I also have a cousin who’s now about five (he’s a twin) and he acts feminine. He wants to wear girl panties and has an interest in pocketbooks. Hmm…is he going to hell?

I’m not sure if the average person is aware, but animals in the wild (some) have homosexual tendencies in them.

If an animal can be born gay, why can’t a human? (some say gay animals is a myth)

How did animals become gay? Did they learn it from humans?

Of course not!

Isn’t it fair to say the environment plays a role?

Zoologist, biologists, etc are trying to keep this under the rug. (some) It’s not to be spoken of.

What are people so afraid of?

Hypothetical Question:

Let’s say for argument’s sake it was discovered people were born gay. If it could be detected if a child is going to be gay or not while in the womb and a patch (the woman would wear while pregnant) could reverse the child’s sexual orientation (homosexual to heterosexual), would you agree to the patch?

It might not say those ’exact’ words (business will not be refused or denied), but that’s what I would think if I didn’t speak English. I think he’s saying to non-English speaking persons, “I don’t want your business if you don’t speak English” (subliminally)
We all know it will deter people who don’t speak English from coming to the shop. So if he’s not trying to ’deny’ business to a certain group of people, why put the sign up?

If you went to France, and saw a sign that said, “Speak French when ordering” and your only language is English, would you feel like you’re not welcomed?

This can open doors for something like Black Codes.

I just don’t like it. If you are not going to deny services, than it sounds like a contradiction to say “Speak English when ordering.”
He knows people are not going to come in if they don’t speak English.

Oh, one more thing, don’t forget he also has another sign that says, ’Management Reserves the Right to Refuse Service.”
Hmmm…
